Welcome to Dancing Crab - opened for business on 25 May 2009

Dancing crab is a specialty Seafood Restaurant, located on the beachfront in Koh Samui Thailand. Below is a photo from the site, looking across the water to Big Buddha.

We have a wide variety of seafood available in a fantastic setting and some Dancing Crab special dishes. We buy only the freshest ingredients so while we want to satisfy all tastes it might be that sometimes a certain variety is not freshly available.

Please look out for the new restaurant in the Big Buddha area of Koh Samui

In Thai it is called "Bpuu Raam Thai"

- "Bpuu" (sometimes spelt Phoo, or Poo) means "Crab"

- Raam (sometimes spelt Ram or Rum) Thai is "Thai Dancing"

The reason we chose the name is that there is a small community of little fiddler crabs on the beach just next to the restaurant. They have a large white claw and the local Thai people call them dancing crabs because they consider it similar to the way the traditional Thai dancers hold their hands. Depending on who you talk to they are called Bpuu Manora - Manora is a variety of Southern Thai dancing or Bpuu Raam Thai which is generic for all Thai Dancing.

More info coming soon.
